I always leave writing this post until the very end of the month.  This month the task was absolutely overwhelming.  As I find a new pattern, I tweet it, I try and post about it on facebook and I make a note in evernote where I found the details.  Then I create a blog post on my notes.  I really should break it up into chucks rather than leaving it for the last day of the month!

So here are the new patterns for April and you can tell spring is in the air (well in the northern hemisphere anyway).

Tessuti came out with two new patterns in April. At the start of the month they announced the Silva shirt jacket.  This jacket is designed for a lightweight fabric.  It has 3/4 sleeves with a rounded hem.  A great layering piece.

Ester is the name of the other pattern.  It is a pair of vintage style high waisted shorts.  They have a narrow waistband and an invisible side zipper.

Laura After Midnight released eventide, her first corset pattern.  On her blog she is currently doing a sew along of the pattern.  The series of posts are very thorough and they make the somewhat daunting task of sewing a corset seem very achievable.

Sew Caroline also came out with two patterns this month.  The sugar pop top has a simple construction with a peter pan collar and flutter cap sleeves,  It also features a subtle high low hem.  The tank dress is all about comfortable and wearability.

She has made some beautiful variations using her fabric getting ready for quilt market.

Merchant and Mills have done away with their blog and are using facebook as their news site. They announced two new patterns – The Landgate and The Strand Coat.  See their pattern store for more information.

On the back of her bombshell swimsuit sucess – Heather Lou closet case files has creted Nettie.  Nettie is an extremely versitlle pattern.  Not only is it a a body suit with varying sleeve lengths and back/neckline options, but it can be transformed to become a dress or a simple shirt.  I can see already taht this pattern is going to be a huge success.

Style Arc started the month with a great series of new patterns.  Princess Catherine’s Australian visit also inspired a copy cat pattern – the Catherine dress.

I do struggle keeping up with all of their pattern releases but I think that TaraAvaGenevieveSimone and Antinotte are all new.  They consistently release patterns on the first day of each month.  Sign up to their newsletter to find out more.

Tara is the first pattern of the Sew Serendipity Spring Collection.  In true Sew Serendipity style this pattern is extremely versatile.  Check out Kays blog post to see no less than 9 variations of this pattern.

Oliver & S / Liesl & co came out with new digital t-shirt patterns for everyone in the family! The metro shirt is for men and women and the school bus shirt is for the kids.  They can be purchased separately or as a pack.

Colette have expanded their pattern range to include two knit fabric patterns Mabel and Moneta.  Mabel is a very simple and wearable skirt, perfect for those just learning to sew with knits. Moneta is a highly versatile, ‘go-to’ dress pattern.   Moneta also has a free extras pack with 5 different collar variations.

These patterns coincide with the release of their new handbook The Colette guid to Sewing With Knits.  I was going to pre-order this book but was put off nby the postage cost.  I have since learned that you can now purchase it as a e-book to read on any computer or device.  Brilliant idea.

I have only recently come across Tina Givens and her patterns. She released two new ones this month – the Mila Shirt and Archie Shirt and jodphurs.   You must check out her site to get a real idea of her style. It is very feminine and flowing and layered.

I was just checking Jalie’s site as I knew they had made some new digital skirt patterns.

I am pleased to see they have announced 11 new patterns for the month!  There are the usual leotards and dance wear but some great swimwear pieces too.  Other patterns include a cocoon cardigan, dolman tops and a good old tracksuit.  Sorry by tracksuit I mean Sweatshirt, hoodie and sweatpants.

Seamingly smitten have come out with another great spring pattern – The Magnolia street wrap dress.

Hot patterns have reworked their popular peasant blouse and also made a youtube video tutorial to go with it.
